- Respect each other. We at We're Still Here believe in having good old fashioned scary fun, but not at the expense of others. Bullying and harassment will not be tolerated, even outside of the game communities. This includes plurk, discord, and anonymous communities such as RPAnons and Wankgate. While the mods don't browse anon comms in any official capacity, if you see another player from the game acting inappropriately on any of them, please contact us so we can take action. More than having fun, we want to provide our players a comfortable, safe environment to play in, and any form of bullying or harassment will be given zero tolerance.
- Respect the mods. Remember that everyone in the game is a person on the other side of their screen, the mods included. Please be courteous to your mod team and respect the decisions we make. This doesn’t mean you can’t provide us with feedback if you have a problem with our conduct, but please don’t be excessively rude or aggressive. We reserve the right to discipline players who treat the mod team disrespectfully or continue to disregard and push back against the rules we have laid out.
- IC does not equal OOC. You are not your character. Don’t let negative CR bleed into OOC behavior, and respect OOC boundaries. Similarly, don’t bring OOC grudges into the game.
- Adhere to RP etiquette. No godmodding; you are not permitted to dictate how another player’s character reacts to yours, nor are you allowed to micromanage another player’s characterization beyond friendly critique. Likewise, no metagaming; just because you have access to certain OOC information does not mean your character does as well. Don’t playercest or squat either. Stay as IC as you can, be flexible and try to be as realistic as you can with what your character is and isn’t capable of, no matter how powerful or clever they are in canon.
- Be mindful of your fellow players. Be aware of your language on the official game channels like plurk and the ooc and the meme comms. That doesn’t mean you can’t swear, but don’t be insensitive or use hateful language or slurs. Use CWs if your posts will include common triggers such as graphic violence, death, self-harm, suicide, etc. as a courtesy to your fellow players, and if you’re unsure, put a CW on it anyway. The mods will do the same for any NPC or event posts that feature potentially triggering material.
- On that note, sexual content also must be CWed. There’s no rule against sex in the game, but please keep it behind a cut and clearly labeled to make sure nobody is caught off guard. Rape plots are banned, and so is sexual content involving characters under the age of 16, or underage characters with adults 18 and older.
- In general, treat sensitive content with respect, whether it be in your character’s canon, other characters’ canons, or the game itself. If we believe that you are not being tactful or receive multiple complaints from other players, we reserve the right to step in and take appropriate action.
- Communicate and make use of permissions posts. Don’t fourth-wall, mind read or do anything that could impact a character unless you have permission from the player. Respect player preferences. If another player opts out of interacting with your character for whatever reason, respect their decision, even if you don’t understand why. They don’t owe you an explanation.
- Contact the mods ASAP if you have an issue with a player that can’t be resolved. We encourage players to attempt to work out their differences with one another first, but if you feel uncomfortable doing so or have tried to no avail, don’t hesitate to reach out to us so that we may mediate a discussion or pursue alternate forms of conflict resolution.
- If you would like to officially report a player, please have proof at the ready. By proof, we mean screencaps, PMs, plurk or discord transcripts— basically, anything that proves bad behavior is going on. Also, don’t be afraid to make us aware of any sketchy behavior or situations you may have witnessed, but please don’t speak for others or bring your concerns to an individual as a group.
- We’re Still Here follows a three-strikes policy. We’re all human and we understand that sometimes mistakes are made, but if we notice that it’s become a pattern, you’ll get two strikes. After a third strike, you’ll be asked to leave the game.
- The mods also reserve the right to reprimand or ban players by our discretion, including bypassing the three-strike system entirely based on serious rule breaking or instances that aren’t listed in the rules but still pose a detriment to the game’s environment. We also have the right to pre-ban players who have an established reputation for rule breaking and causing drama or discomfort in other games and communities.
